Top 10 LabTV Videos of 2017

Labtv2017 marked ten years since the Youtube Channel LabTV was founded by Roderick Dyson (Merki Waters) in 2007.

In this time the channel has grown to be the definitive outlet for unsigned urban music in and around the North West of England.

At the end of 2016 we began to see a noticeable increase in regular uploads for the channel as Connor Cuttress (C-Two) started to film and upload content to the channel too.

There has been a lot of quality content posted on there since the Top 10 LabTV Videos of all Time list was written in 2016 and it is finally time to discuss my personal top 10 videos posted on LabTV in 2017.

10. Prefects – Bar Session 3

This is Robert Walker (Prefects) third bar session video on LabTV and it is really interesting to see how he has matured as an artist and found his style through his previous videos on the channel.

C-Two’s work on the editing really helps keep the visuals fresh and exaggerate the clever punchlines.

9. Cypher – The Hip Hop Exhibit with KRS One

This video is incredible as we get to see so many local legends bring their A game in a cypher hosted by timeless Hip-Hop legend KRS-One.

This video features so many fantastic verses from a diverse mix of talented Scouse rappers.

8.Gez ft C-Two – No Way

Aaron George (Gez) and C-Two are two artists who work very well together and their collaborative effort in music is almost always worth checking out as their two personalities are great together on a track.

7. Niggy Raw – Gully Gang

Barry Kayode (Niggy Raw) is one of the most diverse artists in our scene dipping his toes into many different styles of rap.

Barry shows off some serious flows and expert lyricism in a trap tune that will stick in your head for weeks.

The video also contains some really eye catching visuals featuring some clips of his set at Jack the Mic.

6. Juke – Live Acoustic Session 1

Two days after James Barton (Juke) made his return to LabTV in late 2017 a pair of surprise live acoustic sessions were uploaded to the channel.

With no one expecting such a rugged rapper to have such a good singing voice these videos blew people away and have left a wake of excitement for Juke’s upcoming acoustic album.

5. 2K – North Face

Featuring insane visuals this track shows how Kyle Kerr (2K) continues to constantly improve.

The only thing more out there than the video is Kyle’s lyrical content which as always remains witty and comical while touching on some real and serious topics.

4. Rico Don X Big O X Jeopardy – Energy

Featuring three of the biggest names in Scouse rap you already knew this track was going to be massive before clicking the video.

With fantastic verses from Rico Don, Big O and Jeopardy its not possible to pick one artist who outshines another on this song.

3. That’s Juvey – OG Gangsta Spider

Originally released on That’s Juvey’s personal YouTube account JuvenileKyle on August 11th 2017 and uploaded to LabTV on October 20th in time for Halloween this animated music video by HooDoo Animations is one of the most outlandish and creative songs done by any Merseyside based rapper.

2. Juke – Bar Session 3

This video was a huge return for Scouse rapper Juke that definitely didn’t disappoint anyone.

Full of impressive rhymes and intricate wordplay this video shows Juke rapping with serious passion and touching on some very real topics.

1. Macz- Didn’t Wanna Know

Originally released by ONTOPTV on April 28th 2017 this track attracted a lot more attention when it was uploaded to LabTV on June 15th.

This is Luke McNee’s (Macz) second song that was played by Charlie Sloth on BBC Radio 1Xtra and its easy to see why Charlie picked him in a scene full of many other talented artists.

Honorable Mentions:

Beyond Average – Deal With It

Spyder Uchiha X NuTribe X Butcha B – Bar Session

Marvel ft That’s Juvey – Rats Dance
